The trial for ‘Coronation Street’ wedding ‘This is my Lucky Day’ fits in with conventions and allows the audience to be able to relate to the characters shown. This can be seen with the camerawork, the way in which it is used is conventional and allows the audience to clearly see who the characters are. This can be seen with the first shot used having the close mid shot through the mirror. Using this shot allows the audience to be able to see the type of characters she is. Later there is a shot used of the male character getting ready, here they use a cover the shoulder shot with the audience being able to see him getting ready in the mirror. This is similar to the shot used at the start making this parallel between the two characters, allows the audience to see that the two characters have a link. The different between the two shots signifiers the way that the male character is more important, being he takes up more spaces in the shot. The camerawork highlights the upcoming story line to the audience. After they shot of the characters is shown there is a close up on the wedding card saying “Good Luck on your Big Day”, using this close up allows the audience to clear know what the trailer is for. Cutting this shot in as the second shot, makes it clear to the audience what is going to happen. This can be seen in the camera movement when the shot used for setting the table, the camera pans around this then cuts to the cake being iced which using the same movement. Using this acted as a graphic match and allows the audience to see the relation with the two scenes. Along with this they use a
aerial shots having this shot for the character bring in the flowers using this allows the audience to see what he is carrying. The other aerial shot is of Becky spinning in her dress, using an aerial shot for this allows the audience to see her full costumes and signifiers the way in which she is looking forward to the wedding. Putting both of these shots allows the audience to have clear understanding of what is happening. The advert shows the audience the way in which Becky is excited and looking forward to the wedding, where as the other characters are looking more worried about what is going to happen. This is connoted by the use of camera work, when Becky is in the car they use a close up of her looking excited showing to the audience the way in which she is unaware. This then cuts to another close up but of Steve looking worried about the wedding.
Using the same shot of these two allows the audience to clearly see the different between the two characters. The way in which the camerawork is used is conventional and allows the audience to clearly see what the upcoming storyline is.  It also allows the audience to focus on the theme, this can be seen in with the use of deep focus with the wedding figures on the cake in focus allowing the audience to clearly see the upcoming storyline and using the deep focus makes the character making the cake out of focus showing the way in which she is less important

The editing used signifiers the way in which the other characters feel that the wedding this not going to go well. This can be seen by the use of the cutting showing a clip of Becky getting ready and then showing a clip of other characters preparing for the wedding. Using this allows the audience to gain an understanding of the way in which Becky feels about the wedding and the way in which the other characters feel it will go. Using this allows the audience more excited about what is going to happen. The pace of editing is fast this fits in the representations of Becky as an up beat and eager person, this also shows the audience the way in which the wedding has been rushed into.
The use of shot reverse shot allows the audience to see the reaction of the characters. Using this allows the audience to see the way in the characters feel about the wedding and the relationship they have. For the last shot they use the opening credit shot using this allows the audience to know what soap the advert was for and appeal to a new audience. When creating my soap trail I need to think about the way in which I can appeal to my target audience.

The way in which sound is used is unconventional being that there is no use of sound effect such as when Becky opens the bottle of wine there is on sound of it popping. Using this is unconventional but allows the audience to listen to the background music. Having just this music allows the audience to see the theme of the advert, being that the song is about how lucky she is going to be, where as the other characters are reflecting the way in which the wedding is not going to go well. There is also no dialogue used in the advert this means that the camera work used, needs to show the audience the reactions of the characters. However not having anyone speaking allows the audience to see how Becky is unaware of the other characters views on what is happen. The use of the voice over is done in a conventional way in that it gives the audience information on what the advert was for. It also signifiers the fact that the wedding is on Friday the 13th, using this date puts over the theme of lucky and appeals to the audience being that it adds to the drama of the wedding. The voice over starts just as the music reaches it climaxes doing this means the voice over stands out and creates dramatic ending to the soap and draws in new audiences.

The mise-en-scene is used in a way that helps to connotes the theme of the advert. This can be seen with the lighting. Using bright high key lighting fits in with the atmosphere created by Becky and fits in with the wedding theme.
Where as the use of costume dose not fit in the wedding theme. Thoughts that are not part of the wedding are wearing black, this the type of costume used for a funeral and not to a wedding. Having this costume fits in the idea that the wedding is not going to go well. The character icing the cake is wearing green, this again fits in idea that Becky needs luck being that green is a typical luck colour. The wedding dress represents the way in which Becky is not a conventional bride being that her wedding dress is pink, using this has the same representation of that as the character in ‘Neighbours’, connoteing the way in which she is a typical female character. The way in which the costumes are used is effective and allows the audience to have an understanding of the characters. When creating my trailer I need to think carefully about the way in which I uses costumes to portray the characters to the audience. The location signifiers the way in which Becky and the town have different views. With Becky’s rooms being decorated with white props, using this represents the way in which she is innocent and unaware for what is going on. Where as the town location uses darker colour and connotes the way in which they do not believe in the wedding. Using these two different location makes the theme and storyline clear to the audience.

The narrative of this trail is conventional, the way in which the clips are edited together. Putting the different clips of Becky and the other members of the town makes it clear to the audience watching the view of the different characters. The way in which the narrative is conventional many of the techniques used in the advert are done in a conventional way, such as the use of the camera work. Though the use of sound is unconventional being that they use no dialogue or sound effect but doing this puts effect on the background music. The way in which the characters are represented is conventional. This can be seen in the way the Steve is having cold feet about the wedding, which is a conventional filling that males have before wedding.

The trailer for the characters Kat and Alfie’s return to ‘EastEnders’ using a Western theme which is reflected in the four areas and in the way the characters are represented. Using this theme helps put over possible plotlines to the audience and the conflicts that the characters may have.
This can be seen with the camerawork used at the end, the extreme close ups on their faces zooming in to their eyes. This is something that is typical used in western films and builds up the tension. Using this also shows the relationship between the two characters. The cutting between the shots increases, which builds tension and fit in with the sound track. Using this signifiers the soap which they are adverting. Fitting these three elements together connotes the western style, builds tensions and shows the relationship that the two characters, Kat and Alfie have. Putting the advert in a western style will appeal to an older audience being that, western films were popular in the 1960s, singnifing the way in which ‘EastEnders’ has a older target audience.
The trailer opens with non-dieagtic music; this music creates an eerier atmosphere and connotes the way in which the location is isolated and shows what has happened in the soap earlier. Using this fits in with the theme of the advert portraying the typical location used in westerns and the techniques that are conventional of the genre to build tension. The use of ambient sound of the sign at the start creates the feeling that the location has been abandoned and puts over the theme more to the audience. There is also the ambient sound of Kat’s shoes’ being the only other sound, singnifings that she is important. Using this technique builds tension in a conservational way. The camera shot highlights the sound, by using a mid shot of the shoes, only showing the shoes, gets the audience attention as to who the character is going too be. Along with  this the camera follows the shoes walking doing this emphasis the how Kat is important to the trail. The non-dieagtic back ground music fits in with the theme of the advert and as the camera tilts to show who the character is, using this fits in with the genre and as the camera does this the music increase. Doing this builds up the tensions and makes audience eager about who the character is going to be. The special effect of the minor, sounding like a gun; fits in with the theme and using a minor allows the audience to gain an understanding of the type of character she is.
Having a black and gold minor connotes the type of character Kat is. The use of the voice over fits in with the conventions of the trailer and allows the audience to know what the advert was for and when it will be on. The voice used for the voice over fits in with the genre and saying “it’s all kicking off on the squarer” this signifiers ‘EastEnders' and has become their catchphrase, using this highlights the soap there are adverting.

The way in which camerawork is used helps to represent the characters and location, this can be seen with the first shot, using a master shot of the burnt pub.
By using this shot it allows the audience to see the location and gain an idea for what has happened. Using this shot gets the audience attentions and signifiers the mise-en-scene. In the same shot they use a newspaper as a tumble-weed, doing this connotes the theme of the advert and signifiers the way in which the location is isolated. They use a over shoulder shot to shows Tanya's reaction to see Kat, using this shot allows the audience to see what she looking at as well as being able to see her reaction. Doing this builds up the tension as to who the mystery person is. Keeping Kat unseen till near the end, makes the audience eager. This is something that I think would be a good technique in my soap trail and it keeps the audience watching. Showing the reaction of other characters is important in this advert, as it allows the audience to guesses at who the mystery character is going to be.
The reaction of Patrick uses a deep focus which has Kat unseen. Using this type of focus is typical of westerns and connotes the relationship that the two characters have, putting over that he is more powerful. The camera shot only show half his face and highlights his hat. The way in which he uses his hat, is typical of the western style and puts over to the audience that who the advert is targeting. They also use a long shot which connote what Kat is looking at. Using this eye line match reflects what she has said, showing the pub. Also in this shot you see the character Roxy backing away, having this signifiers possible plot line to the audience and connotes the effect the new character is going to have on 'EastEnders'.
The framing of this shot fits in with the theme of the advert and is a conventional to the western style and signifiers the relationship of the characters. Using this way of framing puts over the way in which Kat is the powerful character being that Alfie is smaller that her. Using this puts across to the audience the way in which these two characters are going to act.
The editing in this trailer is conational of other trailers being that it builds tension; this also fits in with the theme of the advert. They use slow pace editing at the start, using this builds up tension and makes the audience interested it what is going to happen.

The pace of editing matches the music used, as the music increase near the end as Kat is being shown which is match by the pace of editing. Doing this builds tensions and fits in with the theme of the advert, this can be seen at the end when the cutting of the extreme close up fit in with the music. This technique of editing is used throughout create a continually editing and signifiers the way in which the town has been isolated, this fits in with the western theme.
To put across the reaction of the other characters to Kat they use shot-reverse shot, doing this helps the audience to see how each character fells about Kat and connotes what is going to happen in the storyline. However the last shot shows both Kat and Alfie showing the way that they are both equals, using this as the last shot allows the audience to see the relationship the characters have, because of the composition. Having the big space between the two of them signifiers to the audience that their is history and the two characters have a completed relationship. This space is used to put the titles, this is done in the house style of ‘EastEnders’ and the BBC. Doing this allows the audience to know when the soap is one and which soap it is. Using titles in this way is conventional to soap trails.

The mise-en-scene used fits in with the theme; this can be seen with the location. The location is portrayed as being isolated; having the location set out this way connotes to the audience what has happened before. It also representations the character Kat being alone, using this theme allows the audience to see that she is new to the town, which fits in with the typical storyline of a western film.
The costume which Kat has connotes her character, portraying her as a 'tart'. This can be seen by the low cut top and short skirt. The colours used also signifiers this image of her using reds and blacks which are typical seen as 'tart' colours. Doing this allows the audience to gain an understanding as to the type of character she is going to be. Some of her costume though fits in with the western theme, her boots and poncho. Using these also makes her stand out against the other characters, connoteing that she is alone. The lighting used is ambient, using this lighting signifiers a realistic setting. However when Alfie is walking towards the camera the using lighting in a way the slowly reviles his character. By creating shadow over his face which gets less as he moves forwards, doing this fits in with the theme of the advert and keeps the audience watch by making them excited about who the character is going to be.
The costume Alfie is wearing fits in with the theme and tells the audience less about his character. He is dress all in black this represents him as the ‘evil’ character being that in western film the ‘evil’ character is dressed all in black. Along with this he has a hat and tooth pick which connotes the western theme, using costume in this way makes it clear to the audience that these two character are new and have a link being that they are the only two character dress like that. Though with this Alfie costume is more dominating and signifiers him as the more powerful character out of the two, this can also be seen by the reaction that Kat gives Alfie.
The use of blind in the advert connotes how the characters are trapped and the way in which they are looking on at Kat. Creating this space between her and the other characters, signifiering the way in which she is isolated. Using the blinds fits in with the theme of the advert but mix it with the mordent life.

The narrative of the advert follows the conational narrative of a western film. Using this narrative allows the makes to keep audience interested in what is being shown. Keeping in this style their use little dialogue and only the main characters in the advert speak, doing this shows that they are important. This can be seen throughout the advert being that it only focuses on these two characters. The theme allows the advert to represent the two characters in a way that the audience will easily be able to understand. This advert appeals to it audience by using a theme to put across the characters and the new storyline. This is something that I could do in my advert to appeal to my target audience, however this theme manly appealed to an older audience and I feel that most soap are aimed at an older audience and that it would be good to make a soap aimed at a younger audience. Which means if I am do a themed advert I would have to think about different themes that will appeal to a younger audience such as a party theme.
