I got a group together of our target audience, and did a focus group to get their feedback on the trailer to gain an understanding of their view and what we need to improve on to make sure that it appeals to our target audience.
1. What do you think works well?
- The transition at the end work well in showing the way in which the characters are all linked and brings over different storylines that could be happening.
- The titles at the end work well, it shows clearly what the trailer is about and fit in with the young audience. Though the uses of the way they enter and exits, along with this the front stands out and get our attention.
- Having a mix of different characters allows us to relate and connect with at least one of them. They are shown clearly and you gain an understanding of what might happening in the soap.
- The camerawork is done well and highlights the characters. Mainly with Elizabeth it brings over the way in which she feels about Zac and how she's left out.
2. What does not work well?
- The music does don't fit in with the trailer and changes the atmosphere of the trail. The song does not fit in with the target audience it's a bit old fashioned.
- In some shots the background noise is too loud and makes it hard to hear what the characters say.
- The trailer could fade out at the end both music and image, being that it just ends.
- There could be a voice over at the end to clearly being over what the titles say.
3. Does this advert make you what to watch the soap?
- Yes - It puts over lots of different storylines that could happen.
- - All the different characters shown, make me want to watch it as I think that I will connect and relate to what they are going through.
- No - being that the music does not fit in and I am unsure what the soap is about, being that the music changes the atmosphere.
